Day 1- Introduce students to a basic Venn Diagram. Have students use an interactive Venn Diagram on the computer to compare and contrast computers and books.
Day 1- Introduce students to a basic Venn Diagram. Have students use an interactive Venn Diagram on the computer to compare and contrast computers and books.
Day 2- Introduce students to the Times for Kids website. Explain to students that they will be allowed to pick two countries to read about and compare and contrast. Explain that when they explore a country they are to use all the hyperlinks associated with the country to get a better understanding of what it would be like to live there, especially the Day in the Life link. Students will use to today to get a feel for the website and practice using the hyperlinks.
Day 3- Have students share with the class the two countries they have chosen. Next, have students explore one of the countries on their own, taking notes with the help of a given organizer. They are asked to read all the reading passages associated with thier chosen country. Once a student feels like he has gathered enough information and has actively explored the links associated with his chosen country, he will create a wordle to summarize the country he learned about. The student will use a variety of words that he finds best represent the country he researched.

Day 5- After taking notes and completing 2 wordles, students will create a Venn Diagram on Classtools to share with the class.
Day 6- Students will write a blog post on KidBlog to share their findings with their classmates. Students will be required to share at least 2 similarities and 2 differences between the countries they researched, note any observations, and comment on at least one of their classmate's posts.
